The Beginning

Hello again everyone, I'm back with a little more about my upcoming internship at the Wolf Sanctum in Bakersville NC. Yesterday, which was Saterday the 15th of May, I went to an art festival in Banner Elk where I met Liz, my internship supervisor, Amber, another intern, and Kamazi, one of the wolfdogs (I do hope I spelled his name correctly...). After we all introduced ourselves it was time to work! We spent the next half hour preparing our little spot in the parking lot, setting up the tent, the tables, the wolf related crafts, and the informational pamplets and cards that describe the Sanctum, where it is located, and what it's purpose and mission was. After that we sat down and let the people come forth.

We spent the day, from 10-4, at the festival, selling crafts (all proceeds went to the wolves), taking donations, and providing the public with information on wolfdogs and the Sanctum. Unfortunately there aren't that many people up in the Mountains of North Carolina in the middle of May.

However, we were none-the-less successful in introducing quite a few people to the Wolf Sanctum and it's mission, so the day was not fruitless. And besides that Kamazi, who Liz is hoping will turn out to be a good exhibit wolfdog, became a little more familairized with the concept of being on a leash and hearing strange sounds. He did a wonderful job at the festival, standing calmly, sometimes walking up to people and allowing them the honor of stroking his fur, but mostly just laying in the shade and completely and utterly ignoring all his adoring fans.
