Days 5, 6, and 7

Sorry! I meant to post yesterday, however, my computer was down for some reason. So I'm posting today instead. Of the 16 wolves 4 of them really like me and will willingly approach me when I'm in their cage filling up their water or cleaning. They are Cheyenne, who is an absolute sweety, Denali, who isn't a sweety at all, Camazi, who likes just about anyone, and Takoda, who is sweet as long as you give her treats. While feeding and watering I'm working on getting Duce, Cheyenne's penmate, used to me. He's really shy and pretty unsocial, but we're hoping that I'm unthreatening enough for him to get used to me and allow me to check him out for wounds or fleas and ticks or whatnot.

On another note, this week was mostly cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. Work at a sanctuary seems to me to be mostly cleaning... cleaning the buckets we use to carry the food, cleaning all the water buckets, cleaning the pens, cleaning the compound... and if it's not cleaning, it's maintaining everything. Mowing, weed eating, fixing fences, painting... the list goes on.

Despite all that though I did get time with the wolves, mostly Cheyenne, and mostly yesterday since we finished everything up about an hour early. I spent quite some time petting Cheyenne and allowing Duce to sneak up 'unnoticed' and sniff me from behind. Since I found a few ticks on Cheyenne Liz got me to put some advantage on her. In order to get it on I had to trick Cheyenne and pretend I was just scratching her. When she finally realized what I was up to she wasn't very happy with me, and immediately left me and climbed to the top of her play platform where she promptly lay down and glared at me. Sensing that I would not be able convince her to come close to me anymore that day, I said goodbye and left her cage. I had managed to get all but a few drops of the treatment on her, so all was well.

This Wednesday I should have pictures, so see ya then!
